The attorneys
behind Raíz Law.
Two attorneys. One firm. Built around the belief that every client deserves direct access to someone who genuinely cares about their outcome.
Raíz Law is built around two attorneys who lead with the same instinct.
Protect what the client has already built. Whether that means standing between a client and a system stacked against them, fighting for someone's right to remain in the country they have made their home, or making sure nothing goes wrong at the closing table — Jessica and Jacqueline bring the same commitment to every matter they handle.
Nearly two decades of immigration law — from every angle.
Jacqueline Delgado brings close to twenty years of immigration law experience to Raíz Law, with a practice that spans the full spectrum of business and investor immigration — including EB-5 green cards, E-2 Treaty Investor visas, H-1B work visas, L-1 intracompany transfers, and O and P visas for individuals of extraordinary ability.
Her practice is built around the intersection of immigration and opportunity — helping investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals navigate the complex visa process so they can focus on building what they came here to build. She brings the same thoroughness and care to every matter, whether that is a first-time visa application or a complex multi-party investor petition.
Jacqueline is licensed to practice law in Florida and focuses her practice on federal immigration matters. She conducts all client consultations in English and Spanish, and brings a deep understanding of the cultural and personal dimensions of immigration to every client relationship she builds.
She has always fought
for the underdog.
Jessica Smith founded Raíz Law around a simple conviction — that the clients who need legal help most deserve the kind of representation usually reserved for those who can pay the most for it.
Before building Raíz Law, Jessica spent years in the trenches. As an Associate Attorney at Krohn & Moss, Ltd., she took on some of the largest names in the auto industry, successfully litigating trials against Ford Motor Company and Chrysler on behalf of consumers who had nowhere else to turn. Before that, as an Assistant Public Defender in West Palm Beach, Florida, she represented indigent clients through more than 50 jury trials — often standing as the only thing between a client and a system stacked against them.
On the real estate side, Jessica brings over 10 years of experience working from every angle — as an agent, a closing attorney, and transactional counsel. She anticipates issues from all sides of the table, not just the legal one. On the immigration side, she guides clients through their cases with the same direct, thorough approach she brings to every closing — treating each case as something personal to protect, not just a file to process.
Jessica earned her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and holds degrees in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Michigan. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois.
What we believe
about this work.
Every decision we make — how we structure our practice, how we communicate, how we price our services — is made with one question in mind: what is best for the client? Not what is easiest for us.
Every client deserves direct access to their attorney. Not a paralegal. Not a case manager. Their attorney — who knows their case, answers their calls, and treats their matter with the urgency it deserves.
The law is complicated. Explaining it does not have to be. We tell clients exactly where they stand, what their options are, and what we recommend — in plain language, every time.
Raíz Law was not built for the easiest cases. It was built for the clients who need someone in their corner — clients navigating a system that was not designed with them in mind.
We are here for the long term. We measure success not by volume but by outcomes — by whether our clients are protected, established, and able to build what they came here to build.
We serve Chicago's immigrant community because this is our community. The work is personal. The commitment is permanent. Every client we serve is part of something larger than a single case.
